A Prayer for Assured Hope in the Storms of Existence

“Therefore, do not throw away your self-assurance, which has a terrific reward.” – Hebrews 10:35, ESV.

Some films have me sitting on the edge of my seat the total time. I enjoy the normal movie arc of story setting, soaring motion, climax, and resolution. Hallmark flicks are recognized for their regular storyline, and we can be confirmed a satisfied ending. If only our lives were that very simple. We can feel frozen in spot, worried of the long run, and terrified of the existing. There are days when it appears we’re in a storm at sea without the need of any way to navigate our way out of it. Driving it out is the only way through. The Apostle Paul survived storms and shipwrecks and did not get rid of his way even while it took a few ships to get him from Caesarea to Rome. In those times sailors applied the stars for assistance, but on this journey by ship, a fierce storm blew up. The robust gale drive winds forced them to use potent ropes to tie the ship together. Darkish clouds included the sunshine, moon, and stars for fourteen days. They threw away their cargo, which is like likely to the lender to withdraw a large sum of money, ripping it up, and throwing it into the wind. The sailors did every thing they could imagine of to survive but missing hope.

Storms of lifestyle normally trigger our hearts to quake with dread and disappointment. At situations we see them on the horizon and other situations they strike out of the blue. These storms may well be social, fiscal, physical, psychological, or religious. They spot great strain on us, and we usually dilemma our faith. But religion in God is the only detail that can help a believer for the duration of good troubles. The Apostle Paul is a good illustration for us. He confronted imprisonment, shipwrecks, death threats, poverty, and excellent emotional distress. Yet, he had immense faith and knew with assurance God would supply rescue. God is with us. He does not leave us to flounder. He makes a way probable when we encounter unachievable cases. At moments, he calms the storms, and other moments, he calms us.

There was a time when I plunged into a deep period of disappointment where by daily life brought no joy, and almost everything seemed dark. I struggled with disappointment about the way God answered a prayer. My anticipations of his guarantees didn’t match what I expert. I expected God to line up with my needs and when he didn’t, I tumbled into a thorn bush of anger, cynicism, and question. The storm raged inward even though I struggled in the darkness. The storyline of my existence did not match the standard joyful ending of my beloved videos. In this storm, I did the only point I could believe of—I read through God’s word, but when I shut my Bible, I forgot what I examine. So, I wrote Scripture verses on playing cards and tacked them up around my household. I knew the only way to navigate this inner storm was to resolve my eyes on the Term of God for the reason that I couldn’t believe in my emotions to tutorial me. My emotions were being like the storm raging throughout the sea of the ship Paul found himself on.

Like Paul in Functions 27:25, we can say, “Keep up your braveness. . .for I have faith in God.” Our assured hope is discovered in a religion planted deep in recognizing God. To know him is to rely on his promises stand even when our expectations fail. We can maintain on to self-assured hope in the storms of lifetime when we plant our confidence in who he is. He is our Bread of Lifetime, Living H2o, and the Wonderful I Am. He is our anchor in the storm, our waymaker, and our shepherd. We can stand the storms of existence if we do not throw absent our confidence in him.

Holy God,

Thank you for getting with me. You are terrific and mighty, full of compassion. You see me in my damage. I’m sorry for doubting your goodness to me in the middle of my storm. Remember to forgive me for turning absent from hope in you mainly because I cannot see you. Currently, I select to maintain on to assured hope in you since you assure to never ever go away me or forsake me. I’m going to consider and live like it’s correct. I rely on you to guidebook me by means of this storm and fill me with hope. In Jesus’ identify, Amen
